We are currently seeking a dedicated and caring School Bus Attendant to join our transportation team. As a School Bus Attendant, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of students during their bus rides to and from school. Your primary role will be to assist the bus driver in maintaining order, managing student behavior, and providing necessary assistance to students with special needs.

Responsibilities:

– Greet students and parents in a friendly and professional manner as they board the school bus.
– Assist students with boarding and exiting the bus safely, particularly those with special needs or mobility challenges.
– Ensure all students are properly seated and secured with seat belts or safety restraints.
– Maintain a calm and orderly environment on the bus, addressing any disruptive behavior and promoting a – – positive atmosphere.
– Communicate and cooperate with the bus driver to ensure the safe operation of the bus at all times.
– Assist students in locating their assigned seats and encourage adherence to safety regulations.
– Monitor students during the bus ride, providing supervision and assistance as needed.
– Handle student inquiries, concerns, and conflicts, striving to resolve issues promptly and tactfully.
– Ensure compliance with school policies, procedures, and safety regulations on the bus.
– Follow emergency protocols and procedures in case of accidents or incidents, ensuring the safety of all students on board.
– Collaborate with school staff and parents to address individual student needs and provide necessary support during transportation.

Requirements:

– High school diploma or equivalent.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially when dealing with students of various ages and backgrounds.
– Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in potentially challenging situations.
– Physical fitness and the ability to assist students with boarding, securing seat belts, and exiting the bus.
– Prior experience working with children or in a similar role is preferred.
– Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR is advantageous.
– Must pass a background check and meet the requirements set by the school district or transportation department.
– Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
– Dependability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
– Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, afternoons, and occasional field trips.
